What we collect, and why.

No advertising, no cookie banner, and nothing sold to anyone. This page sets out exactly what that means.

Who is responsible for your data

This site is operated by Local Ventures and Investments LLC, trading as ratio.dev, of 5764 N Orange Blossom Trl, PMB 91711, Orlando, FL 32810, United States. We decide what is collected here and why, and we are the people to hold to account for it. You can reach us at tony@ratio.dev.

What we collect

There are three things, and no others.

What you send us through the contact form. Your name, your email address, your website if you give one, and your message. Nothing is pre-filled and nothing is inferred — we get what you typed.

Anonymous analytics. That a page was viewed, roughly which country from, and what kind of device and browser. No cookies are set and no identifier follows you between days. Our analytics provider also records how a page was used — scrolling, and where a cursor moved and clicked — so we can tell whether a page is working. That is not video, it is not linked to your identity, and it is not used to capture what you type into the contact form.

Server logs. Cloudflare, who serve this site, record the usual request data including IP address, for a short period, to keep the service running and to stop abuse.

We do not run advertising, we do not build profiles, we do not sell or rent anything to anyone, and we do not make automated decisions about you.

Why we collect it

Your enquiry — so we can reply, and so we can run the work if it turns into work. You wrote to us; answering is the point.

Analytics and logs — to understand whether the site works and to keep it available. These hold no personal data and set no cookies, which is why you are not being asked to consent to anything.

We do not sell or share personal information, and we never have. If we ever wanted to do something with your data that needed your permission, we would ask first.

Who else touches it

We use a small number of companies to run this site. They process data on our instructions and may not use it for their own purposes.

  • Cloudflare — hosting and delivery of this site, and the server logs described above.
  • MailerLogic — delivers your contact form message to our mailbox.
  • Rybbit — the analytics described above.
  • xCloud — our mailbox, which is where your message lands and stays.

We are based in the United States and our providers are largely US companies, so your information is processed there. If you write to us from the UK or the European Economic Area, that is a transfer out of your region, made under the safeguards those transfers require.

Videos on this site are embedded from YouTube in privacy-enhanced mode, and nothing is requested from YouTube until you press play. If you do, YouTube receives that request and Google’s privacy policy governs it. Links to Amazon on the book pages are ordinary links — nothing is loaded from Amazon unless you follow one.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. The only exception is our own content management system at /keystatic, which requires a sign-in cookie and is used by us, not by visitors.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that do not become work — deleted within twelve months.
  • Correspondence with clients — kept while we work together and for six years afterwards, to meet our record-keeping obligations.
  • Analytics — aggregate figures with nothing personal in them.
  • Server logs — a short retention set by Cloudflare.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • tell you what we hold about you, and give you a copy;
  • correct anything that is wrong;
  • delete it;
  • restrict what we do with it, or object to it entirely;
  • send it to you, or to someone else, in a portable form.

Email tony@ratio.dev and we will deal with it within one month. We will not charge you, and we will not make it difficult.

If you are in California, the CCPA gives you the right to know what we have collected, to have it deleted, to correct it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. There is nothing to opt out of — we do not sell or share personal information as the CCPA defines those terms, and we do not use it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We will not treat you differently for exercising any of this.

If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area, the same rights are available to you, and you may also complain to your national data protection authority if you are unhappy with how we have handled a request.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Access to enquiries is limited to the people who need it. We keep the number of places your data exists deliberately small, which is the most effective security measure available to a company our size.

Children

This site sells software development to businesses. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect anything from them.

Changes

If this page changes in a way that affects you, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be flagged here rather than made quietly.
